Audrey Hepburn was born on May 4, 1929 in Brussels, Belgium. Her father was a wealthy English banker, and her mother, a Dutch baroness. After her parents divorced, Audrey went to London with her mother where she went to a private girls school. Later, when her mother moved back to the Netherlands, she attended private schools as well. While vacationing with her mother in Arnhem, Netherlands, Hitler's army suddenly took over the town. Audrey and her mother struggled during the Nazi occupation and she was starving because there was not enough food for anyone. Because Audrey was so hungry all the time, she began to draw pictures of stories (Illustrate) as a way to stop thinking about the food she did not have. She was suffering from malnutrition-a disease caused when you do not have enough food to eat and stay healthy. When Audrey grew up, she knew she had to stop children from starving so she became a volunteer and spokesperson for UNICEF, an organization that advocates for children. After the Netherlands were liberated, Audrey went to a ballet school in London on a scholarship and began a modeling career. This was how she was discovered by a movie producer. Audrey became a very famous movie star and the fashion world adored her. In 1988, Audrey became a special ambassador to the United Nations UNICEF fund helping children in Latin America and Africa.

Her movies were always of the highest quality-Listed below are some of her movies:

Roman Holiday (1953) in 1953. This film turned out to be a big success as she won an Oscar as Best Actress.
Funny Face (1957).
Sabrina (1954),
Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)
My Fair Lady (1964)

What does UNICEF do to help children?
The United Nations Children's Fund (or UNICEF) was created by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 1946 to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1953, UNICEF became a permanent part of the UN System and its name was shortened from the original United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund but it has continued to be known by the popular acronym based on this old name. Headquartered in New York City, UNICEF provides long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. (source)
